The Indian Splendor Film Festival opened at the Academy with the go-flight-win women’s field hockey flick Chak de India. “Indian Films don’t explore sports, so we’re treading new ground. We weren’t at Rafing Bull yet” director Shimit Amin said afterward. Bollywooders like Katrina Kaif were at the shindig, which also celebrated the country’s 60th anniversary of independence. The Real Medicine Foundation packed the Lladro Boutique on Rodeo to raise money for its humanitarian relief efforts. Works by Picasso, Basquiat, Sean Lennon, and Yoko Ono were auctioned off for the cause. Artist and former jailbird Louis Carreon opened his show For The Love of Honey at Uncle Buck’s Gallery in Hollywood. Entourage’s Kevin Conolly hosted, and Adrian Grenier and former NBA-er Chris Mills popped by to have a cube of cheese.
